Killer Bear on the Loose

Denise Stebbins was found dead by a local hiker in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area; she was last seen camping in the region three days prior. She had apparently been mauled to death by what authorities now speculate to be either a bear or a cougar. US Wildlife and US Parks officials are warning visitors to the parks and forested areas of the Mill Valley and immediately to the north of the Golden Gate Bridge to be extremely cautious when out hiking and camping, not to go alone, and to carry either pepper spray or some other bear deterrent, also not to bring any food into these areas.
